The
Custer County Agricultural Society was formed in 1880 with the goal
of promoting agricultural activities in the county and today continues
to be a viable part of county activities. The Ag Society works with
the University of Nebraska Extension service to promote many different
programs and also works with the 4-H programs of the county. An
additional responsibility is the conduct and operation of the annual
Custer County Fair and to provide for the upkeep of the Fairgrounds.
Today many additional activities - CHAN Cutting, Sandhills Slide,
Team Roping, carnivals, circus events, sales, wedding receptions
- continue to be held at the Fairgrounds as a service to the community.
